We did it! Our new home is official at the Hope campus
in Waukee. The move began at West Des Moines where we had a great turnout
of people to help pack up the supplies in the closet. We were headed to
Waukee by 11 a.m. We spent the rest of Friday and Saturday organizing all of
our supplies to fit into the new closet as well as what was stored at some of our houses! (Moving Day photos can be found on PHOTOS page.)
Reorganizing bins and figuring out how to organize
everything on the shelves in the closet was a challenge. Can you
image about 20 women, all with an opinion on how to do things 😂? Thankfully we had coffee, a new hot pot for tea drinkers, lots of treats as
well as some old friends to keep us busy with visiting as we were deciding
where to put the irons and the 25 bolts of new fabric. We were blessed
with a huge donation of fabric from The Iowa Quilt Block. Thankfully, room
wasn't a problem in our new closet! Be sure to stop in and say a big "THANK YOU" to
Shelley!
Since reorganizing and visiting took up most of the time the only real order of
business was discussing Hope Quilters three yearly retreats. The April retreat is going to be at Waukee Hope Campus but a committee is looking for room at other Hope Campuses. We thought it would be fun to visit the other campuses, getting to know the staff and other area Hope members who might want to sew with us! An overnight
retreat offsite is also being discussed. It's been eight years since our last retreat at
Riverside so it's time for another! Keep checking the blog for more details, if interested in joining us!
Had a few quilts brought in and can be seen on PHOTOS page!
Thank you to all the Hope Quilters who helped out on our big move! You are very much appreciated!

What an exciting time for Hope Quilters! I think the move sounds like the perfect scenario for storage and quiltmaking. And it's great to consider inviting other sewists to join you by retreating at other Hope facilities. The University Avenue location looks spacious and wonderful! I can't believe HQ hasn't retreated at Riverside for eight years! Wow! That HAD to have been the last time I was in the group, as my pre-move (to Florida) blog post is about HQ retreating at Riverside in 2012. You can read that blog post here: https://flourishingpalms.blogspot.com/2012/01/reentering-reality-since-retreating.html Enjoy your new home, quilters!
